The Reader Railroad was touted as being the oldest operating standard gauge railroad in the United States. One of the most interesting features of the railroad was the manual turntable. This Arkansas shortline closed down after it was determined that the cost of doing the required by law boiler test, was to expensive. Everything was sold off. Arkansas lost a true original treasure.
These pictures were taken in June of 1985. I don't want any comments on what I am wearing, yes it's true I have a "mullet" hair cut in the second picture, in the third picture is Scott Connor, friend, and A.C.E. member.
